MOSS - Beim Anlegen eines WSS bleibt die Dropdown für Webapplication leer

Ich habe mal wieder einen Sharepoint installiert -dieses Mal mit vorinstalliertem OS + IIS.
Und beim anlegen des WSS merke ich, dass ich zwar eine WebApplication anlegen kann, aber die dann nicht zur Auswahl steht.
Das hat mich dann auch gleich mal 4 Std. Zeit gekostet, bis ich auf die Lösung kam:

To solve the problem you need to change the identity of the application pool for each Web Application but ONLY from Central Administration > Operations > Service Account, then restart the IIS with iisreset /NOFORCE
